Thanks to Capt’n Charley we now have some pics of Sjogin tacking out of the basin last Friday. He keeps an interesting Flickr page going. Check out the winter sailing pics in Florida Bay.

And ready to go. With the tiller tied to starboard, a push off the pilings will see her through on the starboard tack.

Easing sheets to see what Charley wants.

Only about 3 feet inside the barge wreck. She’s kissing the bottom here.

An even rarer pic of landing Sjogin. When the winds out of the ENE, there’s barely enough room to come head to (mostly) wind. This approach was a bit brisk but just a slight bump. With the wind in the NE through W by N I land downwind.
Wow, impressive Russ. You sail up to the dock, drop the tiller and catch the pilings single-handed? You’re either quite brave or quite good, or both. (I guess by “rare photo” you mean you don’t have enough other hands free to also juggle a camera and take pictures of yourself at the same time? Where’s the challenge?)
Thanks Barry. After 25 years it becomes routine. And there are misses. I usually manage to come head to wind with enough room to fall off and try again. It’s always different.
The pics are rare in that all of my pics are taken when I’m aboard.
Russ
OMG what spectacular photography! Just kidding, she looks great leaving the harbor.

Hi Russ….Sjogin looks beautiful as usual! Will be visiting Beaton’s next week for replacement of a broken batten. Hope to catch up with you.
Happy 4th…..Mark
love those tanbark sails. And well set too.
Thanks Wen. They’re getting on and a bit full. A new set will help her point higher. I’d love to get a set made by Nat Wilson.
